Kannada actress Aashika Ranganath has sparked discussion in the film industry with her comments on heroine roles. She stated that criticism towards actresses is often unfair, as women characters are not properly designed in scripts. According to her, actors perform only within the limits given by directors.
She further added that in pan-India films, female roles are often reduced to glamour elements rather than meaningful characters. While such big films offer career opportunities, they do not always give importance to strong women roles. Her comments have now triggered a wide debate in the industry.
