A strong trend these days is that when a movie is made with a popular star hero, the climax is designed with a twist that leaves room for a sequel. If the film does well, the craze will take it to sequels like Baahubali and Pushpa. If it fails, it ends right there and audiences move on. Films like Samantha’s Yashoda, Kalyan Ram’s Devil, Chiranjeevi’s God Father, Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom fall under this category. It’s an open secret that these won’t have continuations. Now it’s OG’s turn. If the film had been just average, there wouldn’t even be a discussion.
But since OG is moving from super hit towards blockbuster status, continuation is almost certain. Director Sujeeth has said in many interviews that he plans a trilogy with OG. Currently, Pawan Kalyan, who is on rest due to fever, has not revealed his stance clearly, so there’s no clarity on when OG 2 will begin. However, inside talk suggests that through Trivikram and DVV Danayya, Pawan responded positively about a sequel. Still, it may not happen immediately. Let’s see why.
Sujeeth has already committed to doing a film with Natural Star Nani. The title Bloody Romeo is already in circulation. Since The Paradise will take about five more months to complete, Sujeeth will be busy preparing the script during that time. If Pawan insists on starting OG 2 soon, Sujeeth might request Nani for a break and shift his focus. Because after completing Ustaad Bhagat Singh, Pawan doesn’t have immediate movie commitments. If he decides to do two or three more films, OG 2 will most likely be the priority, according to close circles. But since Pawan is heavily involved in politics and government responsibilities, we must wait and see what decision he makes about his film career.
