January 7 marks the 66th birth anniversary of BA Raju, a legendary personality who dedicated nearly four decades of his life to the Telugu film industry. More than a journalist, Public Relations Officer, publisher, or producer, BA Raju was an institution in himself. Known for his warmth and integrity, he was a trusted friend, guide, and mentor to everyone—from top stars and directors to aspiring newcomers. His ability to treat all with equal respect made him one of the most loved figures in the industry.
BA Raju began his journey handling publicity for Superstar Krishna and went on to manage publicity for over 1,500 films, contributing significantly to their success. In 1994, he launched Super Hit Weekly magazine with his wife B. Jaya and ran it uninterrupted for 27 years. Later, under the banners Superhit Friends and RJ Cinemas, the couple produced notable films like Premalo Pavani Kalyan, Chantigadu, Lovely, and Vaisakham. Widely regarded as the “Knowledge Bank” of Telugu cinema, BA Raju also served as President of the Film Critics Association, always standing by fellow journalists. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through IndustryHit.com and his widely followed social media presence, now carried forward by his son Shiva Kumar B.
