

The 70th South Filmfare Awards ceremony took place with great grandeur on Saturday in Kochi, Kerala. Organized by the Kerala Government in collaboration with Kerala Tourism, the event saw a massive gathering of South Indian film stars, adding a special charm to the night. The atmosphere reached a fever pitch with the arrival of Icon Star Allu Arjun, as thousands of fans thronged the airport to catch a glimpse of him.
The awards were presented to the best films and technicians released in 2024 across the Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada languages, as selected by the jury. In the Telugu category, Pushpa 2: The Rule dominated the evening by winning awards in six categories, including Best Actor for Allu Arjun and Best Director for Sukumar. With this win, Allu Arjun created a new record in Telugu cinema by securing his 7th Filmfare Award. He now stands second only to Megastar Chiranjeevi, who holds the record with 9 awards. Additionally, Nivetha Thomas was honored with the Best Actress award for her exceptional performance in the film 35 Chinna Katha Kaadu.
