The release dates of big-budget films starring senior Tollywood heroes are becoming a major headache for producers and distributors. With Megastar Chiranjeevi, Victory Venkatesh, Balakrishna and Nagarjuna preparing to compete at the box office, festive seasons are drawing increased attention. Chiranjeevi’s Kaka is progressing at a brisk pace, while Adarsha Kutumbam (AK47), starring Venkatesh and directed by Trivikram Srinivas, has also generated high expectations. Chiranjeevi tasted success with Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu and Waltair Veerayya, while Venkatesh scored strong box-office collections with Sankranthiki Vasthunam. If films starring these two senior actors are released around the same time, concerns are growing over theatre allocation and the potential impact on box-office collections.
Meanwhile, Nagarjuna is reportedly gearing up for a Christmas release with his 100th film, King 100. There is also speculation that Dada, starring Balakrishna and directed by Gopichand Malineni, may hit theatres during the same period. If two big-budget films are released on the same day, they could face challenges in attracting audiences and securing sufficient screens. Industry sources also believe that OTT platforms’ release-window requirements, reportedly ranging from four to eight weeks, are making release-date planning more complicated. Without proper coordination, hundreds of crores worth of business could be at risk. While this competition may excite fans, producers are being forced to plan their release schedules carefully. The industry now awaits a solution to the release-date clash and the outcome of the box-office battle.
