Two weeks ago, Dulquer Salmaan's Kaantha debuted in theaters with high hopes, but it fell short of everyone's expectations. Audiences hoping for a strong hit from Dulquer were let down by the film, despite the excitement and positive sentiment prior to its release.
Samuthirakani and Rana Daggubati play important supporting roles in the movie, which stars Dulquer Salmaan and Bhagyashree Borse in the lead roles. Early reviews gave the impression that the film could easily surpass the 100-crore mark, and the Chennai premieres were met with overwhelmingly positive reactions. But after the first-day first-show screenings, things drastically changed.
The movie only appealed to a small portion of the audience, and conflicting rumors quickly spread. The box office receipts consequently plummeted. Kaantha only made about 35 crore globally in ten days, and it is anticipated to close at about 40 crore. The film's fate as a huge letdown was sealed when it failed to gain any momentum during the week or over the next few weekends.
