Don’t See It as Vijay’s Last Film, See It as CM Vijay’s First - H. Vinoth on ‘Jana Nayagan'

With Jana Nayagan all set for a grand worldwide theatrical release on July 23, advance bookings have already opened in Tamil Nadu, overseas markets, and several major cities, while bookings in the Telugu states are expected to begin shortly. Ahead of the release, director H. Vinoth shared several interesting insights about the film, saying audiences should not view it as Vijay's final film but as the first film of Chief Minister Vijay. He explained that the film is more than a commercial entertainer, focusing on the conflict between forces that weaken democracy and those who strive to protect it. Vinoth expressed confidence that the film's political themes would spark meaningful discussions among audiences after its release.

The director also revealed that the title Jana Nayagan was chosen because it perfectly reflects the film's political and democratic backdrop. He disclosed that Vijay had suggested watching Bhagavanth Kesari while discussing the screenplay, which inspired certain narrative ideas, although the script was extensively reworked to suit Vijay's style and Tamil audiences rather than becoming a direct remake. Vinoth dismissed claims that the film was made to promote Vijay's TVK party, stating that the script was completed before political developments unfolded. He also expressed concern over leaked copies circulating online but remained optimistic that Vijay's fans would support the film in theatres. The film stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, and Priyamani, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
