Producer Dil Raju has sparked an industry-wide discussion with his comments on the rising remuneration of star heroes amid increasing film production costs. He stated that a significant portion of the budget for big-budget films is spent on actors' salaries, placing a heavy financial burden on producers. To address this issue, he suggested that Tollywood should consider adopting a profit-sharing model similar to the one followed by several Bollywood actors.
Dil Raju explained that in films made with budgets of around ₹300 crore, more than one-third of the total cost often goes towards the lead actor's remuneration. He observed that many stars are reluctant to reduce their fees due to concerns about their market image. According to him, a profit-sharing model would reduce the financial pressure on producers while encouraging actors to take greater responsibility for a film's commercial success. His remarks have now become a major topic of discussion within the Telugu film industry.
