Mahesh Babu’s film re-releases have become major events in recent years, with several older films attracting impressive audience response and box office collections. However, the re-release of "Athidhi", which was brought back to theatres in a remastered version to mark Superstar Krishna’s birth anniversary, has reportedly failed to generate the expected excitement among moviegoers.
While a few single-screen theatres in cities like Hyderabad and Vijayawada witnessed a decent turnout, the overall response remained limited. The film also recorded a lukewarm reception in the United States, a market where Mahesh Babu traditionally enjoys strong support. Industry observers believe that the lack of a cult following for "Athidhi" and the growing number of re-releases may have contributed to the underwhelming response.
