Following the success of Amaran, talented filmmaker Rajkumar Periasamy is gearing up for his next project, Om. The film stars Dhanush, legendary actor Mammootty, Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela in prominent roles and is being produced under the banners of Wunderbar Films and RTake Studios. Music for the film is composed by Sai Abhyankkar, and the project has generated considerable expectations among audiences. Ahead of its scheduled November 20 release, Rajkumar Periasamy shared several interesting details about the film during a recent interview. The director revealed that he had the opportunity to meet Dhanush during the shooting of Amaran. At the time, Dhanush was exploring stories for his next project and encouraged Periasamy to come up with an interesting script.
Periasamy praised Dhanush for producing Om and giving him complete creative freedom. He also revealed that he met Mammootty in March last year and narrated the basic premise of the film. According to the director, Mammootty gave his approval within just 15–20 minutes and was highly impressed after listening to the complete script a few days later. Describing Om, Periasamy said it is a universal friendship story that goes beyond regional boundaries and unfolds as an emotional drama set against a crime backdrop. He added that all the lead actors would be seen in distinctive roles featuring shades of grey, unlike their previous performances. Although the film draws inspiration from certain real-life incidents, the story unfolds entirely within a fictional world.
