Prabhas and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming pan-world film ‘Spirit’ has generated huge expectations since its announcement. Deepika Padukone was initially approached for the female lead, but she was later replaced by ‘Animal’ fame Triptii Dimri. Reports had earlier suggested that Deepika’s alleged demands were behind her exit from the project. Producer Pranay Reddy Vanga, who is Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s brother, has now addressed the controversy, claiming that the team held discussions with Deepika for nearly 18 months and initially approached her because they had great confidence in her talent.
Pranay Reddy Vanga alleged that Deepika sought a substantial remuneration along with a 10 percent share of the film’s profits. He also claimed that certain conditions regarding dates and shooting hours did not suit the production team’s working model, leading to her removal from the project. He further alleged that details of their confidential discussions were leaked to the media through her public relations team, which reportedly left the filmmakers upset. These remain the producer’s allegations, and the comments have now sparked fresh discussion around the casting controversy surrounding ‘Spirit’.
