Ram Gopal Varma is a director who changed the landscape of Telugu cinema. The sensation he created with his debut film Shiva was just the beginning. Later, he moved to Bollywood and made films like Rangeela, Satya, Company, and Sarkar, creating a sensation there as well. However, over time, it became evident how much he had declined as a director. It’s normal for any director to become outdated or deliver failures after a certain phase, but Varma’s decline extended beyond his career he also fell personally.
He became a mouthpiece for the YSR Congress Party, targeting key leaders of the TDP and Jana Sena through his films, and even tried to attack personalities like Chandrababu Naidu, Nara Lokesh, and Pawan Kalyan. Varma didn’t even spare Megastar Chiranjeevi during this phase. However, after the YSRCP’s disastrous defeat in the 2024 elections, Varma seems to have changed. He decided to stay away from politics and focus on films instead.
In this process, he seems to have realized his past mistakes and feels remorse. Recently, Varma apologized to Chiranjeevi. On the occasion of the re-release of Varma’s debut film Shiva, Megastar Chiranjeevi shared a video message wishing the team well. Chiranjeevi praised how Shiva had set trends back then and appreciated the film. He even lauded Ram Gopal Varma, calling his vision remarkable and stating
that Shiva had transformed the future of Telugu cinema.
Varma shared this video and thanked Chiranjeevi, also apologizing if he had ever hurt him in the past. Even without going into details, it is clear that Varma regrets targeting Chiranjeevi while aligning with YSRCP earlier. Many fans feel that Chiranjeevi’s act of praising Varma during the Shiva re-release, despite how much Varma and Pawan had targeted him, reflects Chiranjeevi’s greatness and generosity.
