

The Cyberabad Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has registered a case against noted Telugu film director G. Ashok following allegations that he collected ₹3.5 crore after promising to launch a young man as a film hero. The complaint was filed by the victim's father, Hanumantha Rao, who alleged that the promised film project was never initiated despite multiple payments. Producer Vijayalakshmi is also being questioned as part of the investigation.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly failed to return the money after not fulfilling the commitment. EOW officials are examining financial transactions, agreements related to the proposed film, and other supporting evidence. Further action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation. No official response has yet been issued by director G. Ashok or producer Vijayalakshmi regarding the allegations.
