Seven years ago, after the release of Mahanati, everyone believed that Keerthy Suresh’s career would rise to an entirely new level. Her performance in that film remains unmatched by any other actress. Despite such fame, even her film with superstar Mahesh Babu didn’t deliver the expected results. Movies with tier–2 heroes like Nithiin and even her solo-title films like Miss India also ended as failures.
Now, on November 28, Keerthy is returning to the audience as Revolver Rita. After several delays, the film is finally set for release.
The recently released trailer reveals the basic plot. A dreaded mafia don’s (Sunil) father suddenly goes missing. While everyone assumes he is kidnapped, his dead body is actually found inside Rita’s (Keerthy Suresh) house. The family tries to prevent this truth from coming out. With the help of her mother (Radhika), Rita plans to dispose of the body. Meanwhile, the don, clueless about what happened to his father, goes on a killing spree driven by suspicion. To know what really happened, the director J.K. Chandu wants viewers to watch it on the big screen.
Judging by the taking, nothing seems drastically new. Audiences have already watched several dark-comedy films starting from Nayanthara’s Kolamavu Kokila to Tharun Bhascker’s Keeda Cola. It remains to be seen how different Revolver Rita feels from these films. Adding to the challenge, it faces competition from Ram’s Andhra King and within a week Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 will also hit the screens. With this lineup, standing out will be tough for Revolver Rita.
In the last seven years, except for Dasara and Sarkaru Vaari Paata, Keerthy Suresh has had hardly any notable hits. She has faced more than 15 flops — surprising, yet true. Now the question is: will Revolver Rita finally give her the much-needed break?
