Buchi Babu Sana, who made his directorial debut with ‘Uppena’ and recently directed Ram Charan’s ‘Peddi’, is widely known as a disciple of star director Sukumar. Industry discussions suggest that Buchi Babu has been following Sukumar’s filmmaking style and approach in several aspects. Interestingly, film circles are comparing the criticism he is facing now with what his mentor experienced early in his career.
Sukumar, after the success of ‘Arya’, faced criticism for certain bold characterizations in ‘Jagadam’, especially regarding the portrayal of the female lead. Similar concerns are now being raised about ‘Peddi’, where Janhvi Kapoor’s role is reportedly shown in a bold manner. Following social media backlash, Buchi Babu reportedly apologized and also agreed to remove some scenes involving Janhvi Kapoor, sparking further discussion in industry circles.
