A recent controversy has erupted in Bollywood following comments made by Zakir Khan at the Screen Awards held in Mumbai. While hosting the event, Zakir Khan made a joke about the success of the film Dhurandhar, hinting that some members of the industry were envious. His remark comparing the film’s impact from Bandra to Juhu did not go well with many, sparking criticism across the industry. Actress Ameesha Patel strongly reacted, urging him not to spread unnecessary negativity and stating that Bollywood has always respected successful films like Dhurandhar.
Director Siddharth Anand also responded sharply, highlighting that the Juhu-Bandra belt has contributed numerous all-time blockbusters over the past decades. He criticized the remarks, calling them inappropriate and dismissive of the industry’s legacy. The controversy has gained further traction as the awards event was already under scrutiny for earlier comments involving journalist Saurabh Dwivedi and actor Rajpal Yadav, making it a major talking point in Bollywood circles.
