Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dude and Dhruv Vikram’s Bison were the major contenders in the Diwali race in the Tamil film industry. Both films belong to different genres and appeal to different audience segments.
Dude, with its youthful and commercial appeal, initially led the box office. However, during the second weekend, Bison showed an edge over Dude in domestic ticket sales.
Despite receiving mixed responses from both Telugu and Tamil audiences due to its limited appeal, Bison stayed ahead of Dude in BookMyShow trends on Friday and Saturday. The Telugu release of Bison this Friday also contributed to higher ticket sales compared to Dude.
On Friday, Dude sold 41.44k tickets, while Bison sold around 45.56k. On Saturday, Dude sold 60.99k tickets, whereas Bison managed 68.38k. If this trend continues, Bison is expected to maintain its lead on Sunday as well.
Although Dude is still ahead in overall performance, Bison has started giving it tough competition in the second weekend. It remains to be seen how both films perform in the coming weekdays, as there were no major Tamil or Telugu releases this weekend.
