Balakrishna, who has just completed Akhanda 2 and is eagerly awaiting its release in December, is set to begin his next movie on October 24. Director Gopichand Malineni, known for Veera Simha Reddy, will collaborate with him once again. However, this time, according to inside sources, the film will not follow the usual commercial formula but will have a different setup. It is said to be a periodic drama with a fresh flavor, featuring a never-seen-before character for Balayya. Although it will be a dual role, it will not be the usual father-son or brother-sibling dynamic seen before — the characters are designed differently. Music for this project will also be composed by Thaman.
Another experimental venture Balakrishna is planning is Aditya 999 Max. This story has long been his dream project, and director Krish has been entrusted with its development. However, following a recent major failure, the team is reportedly taking time to finalize the script before officially announcing the project. Balayya was impressed with Krish’s approach in Gautamiputra Satakarni and gave him a chance for this ambitious project, even though it did not meet expectations earlier. Balakrishna still believes Krish is the right director for Aditya 999.
One reason for Balayya stepping away from the mass formula is to give Akhanda 2 a stronger push in the Hindi belt. Producers have prepared the budget accordingly, and if the film clicks, it will create an additional market. So far, Balakrishna has been somewhat negligent in this area, but Akhanda 2 will change that. Both the Gopichand Malineni movie and Aditya 999 are different experiments. Balayya is also considering another film with Anil Ravipudi, who delivered the award-winning film Bhagavanth Kesari. Clarity about this project may come after Sankranti.
