Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s upcoming film ‘Athimanoharam’ has reportedly hit an unexpected roadblock. Directed by Tharun Moorthy, the film stars veteran actress Meera Jasmine as the female lead, with Lalu Alex, Manoj K. Jayan and Jagadish in key roles. The makers had planned to shoot several important sequences at the renowned Sabarimala pilgrimage centre. Although the Travancore Devaswom Board reportedly granted conditional permission up to Nadapandal, the planned shoot at the Sabarimala Sannidhanam was cancelled after the team failed to receive the required clearance from the Forest Department.
Kerala minister Muralidharan responded to the development, stating that permission at the Sabarimala premises would be restricted to devotional films related to Lord Ayyappa or movies with religious significance. He said regular commercial film shoots would not be permitted there. Despite the Devaswom Board’s permission, the lack of Forest Department clearance and the minister’s remarks have brought the planned Sabarimala schedule to a halt, making the issue a talking point in Malayalam cinema circles.
