Karthi’s much-awaited film Annagaru Vostaru, produced by Studio Green’s K. E. Gnanavel Raja and directed by Nalan Kumarasamy (of Soodhu Kavvum fame), is all set for a grand worldwide theatrical release on December 12, 2025. Co-starring Krithi Shetty, this action-comedy fantasy is a loving tribute to the larger-than-life mass commercial cinema of the 70s and 80s. Karthi plays a superhero-like character in a fictional world where heroes are treated as demigods, echoing the aura of legends like NTR and MGR. The pre-release event held in Hyderabad turned into a celebration of Karthi’s versatility and unique script choices, with young directors Venky Kudumula, Shiva Nirvana, Deva Katta, Vivek Athreya, Rahul Ravindran, Shailesh Kolanu, Bobby, actor Sundeep Kishan, lyricist Rakendu Mouli, and producer Bunny Vas showering praise on him.
Speaking at the event, Karthi called it one of his most challenging roles yet: “It imagines what would happen if our own cultural superheroes like NTR and MGR returned today. I feel fortunate to bring such a different and ambitious film to the audience”. Krithi Shetty expressed gratitude for her dream Tamil debut opposite Karthi, saying Nalan Kumarasamy has created an entire magical world and that the film recaptures the old-school commercial cinema charm that once pulled crowds to theatres. With the trailer receiving fantastic response and Mythri handling the Telugu distribution, the entire team is confident of a massive hit.
