‘Viswanath & Sons’, starring Suriya and directed by Venky Atluri, has received a strong response from audiences and emerged as a successful family entertainer. Since its release, reports have been circulating that Atluri had initially narrated the story to Ravi Teja and several other Telugu heroes, who allegedly rejected it. Addressing the reports in a recent interview, Atluri clarified that he never narrated the complete story to any Telugu hero. He explained that the film industry faced major disruptions between 2020 and 2022, and the actors he approached later were already committed to previously accepted projects. He subsequently approached Dhanush and Dulquer Salmaan before deciding to take the story to Suriya, who eventually gave his approval.
Atluri also revealed that Suriya offered suggestions regarding the climax, particularly insisting that both the hero and heroine should have equally important roles in the concluding portion. The director said he was happy that the film turned out as he had expected and connected with audiences. Meanwhile, ‘Viswanath & Sons’ is performing strongly at the box office. Trade sources report that the film crossed Rs 100 crore within two days and has collected around Rs 121 crore so far. It has reportedly become the third-highest-grossing Tamil film, with expectations that it could surpass the collections of ‘Karuppu’ and ‘Jana Nayagan’.
