Allari Naresh attempted to try something new by acting in the crime thriller ‘12 Years Railway Colony’, but the film ended as a major disappointment. It was washed out by the second week, marking a complete failure. Once known for entertaining audiences with comedy, Naresh has been exploring different genres recently, yet success continues to elude him. After audiences stopped responding to comedy, he experimented with cult dramas, message-oriented films and revenge stories. Even in ‘Ugram’, where he appeared in an intense role, the film did not deliver the expected results.
His upcoming movie is ‘Alcohol’. The teaser was released long ago, and the makers announced January 1, 2026, as the release date. Despite the heavy competition during the Sankranthi season, the team believed a ten-day theatrical run would be sufficient. However, according to the latest industry talk, the release date may change. Since this too is an experimental project, the team feels it needs the right solo release window. Sithara Entertainments is currently busy with the distribution of ‘Jana Nayakudu’ and the promotions of ‘Anaganaga Oka Raju’, making it difficult to focus on ‘Alcohol’.
Although there is no official announcement about a postponement, industry sources claim the chances of shifting the release date are high. The failure of ‘12 Years Railway Colony’ is also said to be one of the reasons Naresh wants to allow some gap before his next release. It is unfortunate that an actor who once stood as a symbol of comedy and completed 50 films so quickly is facing such a challenging phase. Naresh is also being cautious about choosing supporting roles, as he feels they may affect his image further.
Whether ‘Alcohol’ will release on January 1 or arrive on a new date remains to be seen.
