Akshaye Khanna, who impressed audiences as the bandit Rehman in Dhurandhar, is all set to appear in a completely different avatar. He will be portraying Shukracharya in Mahakali, a film being made as part of Prasanth Varma’s Cinematic Universe. His new look, featuring a long white beard, matted locks around his head and a traditional tilak on his forehead, has already generated curiosity. The first glimpse of Mahakali is scheduled to release on August 24 and introduces the film with the intriguing tagline, “The End Begins.” Bhoomi Shetty and Rohit Saraf are playing key roles in the movie, but Akshaye Khanna’s portrayal of Shukracharya has emerged as one of the biggest talking points. His mythological background has also sparked interest among moviegoers.
According to Hindu mythology, Shukracharya is believed to be the son of Sage Bhrigu and is also known by names such as Kavya and Ushana. Although he is traditionally described as the guru of the Asuras, he cannot simply be viewed as a villain. He is regarded as a wise scholar and strategist who was deeply committed to his disciples. Mythological accounts also describe his expertise in sacred mantras and spiritual knowledge. While Brihaspati served as the guru of the Devas, Shukracharya was the guide and mentor of the Asuras. The intellectual and strategic rivalry between the two gurus holds a significant place in mythology. This has made Akshaye Khanna’s portrayal of Shukracharya in Mahakali one of the film’s most anticipated aspects.
