Across Andhra Pradesh, boards announcing ticket refunds for “Akhanda-2” are visible everywhere. The unexpected cancellation of the premieres led to long queues in front of theaters from people who had already purchased tickets. In some areas, the same tickets are being allowed for 8 AM shows, while in other areas, refunds are being issued.
Akhanda-2 bookings in Andhra Pradesh started very early. With a special government notification (GO), advance bookings were allowed ahead of time. However, due to the cancellation of premieres, ticket amounts are now being refunded to buyers. The cancellation of premieres has put Akhanda-2’s break-even point in uncertainty. Akhanda-2, made with one of the biggest budgets in Balakrishna’s career, had the producers spend the full amount requested by the director, trusting the combination. According to the latest information, the film needs a gross of 100 crores from Andhra Pradesh alone, including 50 crores from seeded shows, to break even. For the movie to achieve break-even, the premieres had to happen as planned. Due to the cancellations, approximately 600 rupees per ticket in expected revenue has been lost, which is now worrying the buyers. All eyes are now on whether the film can reach its break-even point.
