In the 90s, the Telugu audience was swept away by the romantic drama “Allari Priyudu”, directed by Raghavendra Rao. The film featured Rajasekhar, Ramya Krishna, and Madhubala in lead roles. The chemistry between Rajasekhar and Ramya Krishna, along with their hit songs, became a major highlight. They later acted together in films like Dheergha Sumangali Bhava and Balarama Krishnulu.
However, after 1998, the duo never appeared together again. Now, after more than two decades, they are reportedly reuniting on screen. Rajasekhar is acting in a new lead role, and Ramya Krishna is said to be paired opposite him. The film is the Telugu remake of the Tamil hit ‘Labbara Pandu’.
The story revolves around rural cricket. Rajasekhar will be reprising the role originally played by Dinesh in the Tamil version.
Actor Vishwadev Rachakonda, who starred in films like Pittagoda and 32/35, is playing the role originally done by Arjun Kalyan.
Rajasekhar’s daughter will be seen as the heroine.
Ramya Krishna will take up the role played by Shwastika in Tamil. The director of the Telugu remake is yet to be officially announced.
Rajasekhar’s previous film ‘Shekar’ was directed by his wife Jeevitha. There is speculation that she may also direct this new remake.
While Rajasekhar once delivered hits through remakes, recent attempts like Gaddam Gang and Shekar did not perform well. Despite this, he is once again stepping into remake territory.
Whether this comeback will work for him remains to be seen.
