Swapna Cinemas has always emphasized freshness in storytelling by backing unique narratives, assembling the right creative teams, and making bold casting decisions. Their latest project, Champion, a period sports drama presented by Zee Studios in collaboration with Anandi Art Creations and Concept Films, marks the significant return of young actor Roshan and the Telugu debut of Malayalam sensation Anaswara Rajan. The film is directed by National Award–winning filmmaker Pradeep Advaitham, who brings his expertise to this ambitious project.
A major highlight of Champion is the comeback of veteran actor Nandamuri Kalyan Chakravarthy, who won hearts in the 1980s before taking a long hiatus after his special role in Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Lankeswarudu. After 35 years, he returns to portray Raji Reddy, a character grounded in realism and central to the story. The first-look poster showcases him with grey hair and a dignified, stern expression against a vibrant backdrop, hinting at a pivotal moment in the narrative. The script and the depth of his role finally convinced him to make this comeback.
Musical promotions for Champion have already begun, with the first single, Gira Gira Gingiraagirey, composed by Mickey J Meyer and sung by Ram Miriyala, receiving a strong response. Roshan and Anaswara Rajan’s on-screen chemistry has also charmed audiences with their youthful energy. On the technical front, production designer Thota Tharani has authentically recreated the pre-Independence era, while cinematographer R.Madhie enhances the story with immersive visuals and striking colour palettes. Editing is handled by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao. The film is slated for a grand theatrical release this Christmas, on December 25th.
