Upasana recently interacted with students at IIT Hyderabad, and one of her questions has now gone viral on social media. She asked, “When do you want to get married?” Surprisingly, mothers and women responded more actively than students, stating that boys are now more eager to get married than girls.
Some women also shared that they were forced into marriage without even knowing why marriage was necessary. This unexpected reaction sparked a wider discussion online about how marriage choices and pressures are shifting in today’s society.
Experts say that youngsters are questioning the very idea of marriage instead of blindly accepting it. The New Progressive India Foundation appreciated this debate, saying marriage should not be forced on anyone and that today’s generation believes it is not a mandatory life decision. Netizens also pointed out, “Marriage and success are not separate… you got married and still succeeded, right?” referring to women balancing both life choices.
