Following a complaint from Kannada superstar Yash's mother, Pushpa, a film producer, Karnataka Police filed a formal complaint against five people, including a woman. PRO Harish Urs, Manu, Nitin, Mahesh Guru, and Swarnalatha are named as accused in the FIR. The High Grounds police station in Bengaluru received the complaint.
Pushpa claims that she produced the movie Kottallawadi and that the accused received ₹64 lakh for related work and publicity. She claims, however, that they purposefully de-promoted the movie instead of promoting it. She added that they threatened and blackmailed the director of the movie in addition to stealing money.
According to Pushpa, Harish Urs took additional money during the shoot after initially agreeing to handle publicity for ₹23 lakh. When the movie was about to be released, he allegedly declined to give account details and threatened to harm the movie with bad press if he was questioned. She added that the director was threatened by accused Swarnalatha and Guru, who claimed to have powerful media connections and the ability to disseminate unfavorable information about the team. Many others, Pushpa continued, have also been duped by them but are reluctant to come forward.
