On November 6, a trailer for the eagerly awaited biopic Michael Jackson was finally released, giving fans their first look. Jaafar Jackson, the son of Michael's brother Jermaine, plays the lead in the movie and flawlessly mimics the King of Pop's distinctive voice, appearance, and movements. The film, which was directed by Antoine Fuqua, also stars Miles Teller as lawyer and manager John Branca, Nia Long as his mother Katherine, Juliano Krue Valdi as young Michael, and Colman Domingo as his father Joe Jackson.
Wearing his uncle's renowned attire and wide-brimmed hats, Jaafar recreates some of Michael's most famous performances in the trailer. Both Michael's glamorous stage persona and his private life will be examined in the film. The official synopsis claims that it provides viewers with "a front-row seat to Michael Jackson as never before," encapsulating the early years of his solo career that helped to mold him into the world's greatest performer. Graham King, who produced the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, is the film's producer.
Speaking about playing Joe Jackson, Colman Domingo, who recently received an Oscar nomination for his performance in Rustin, stated that his goal was to convey his nuanced humanity beyond what the general public saw. Jaafar's portrayal was hailed by director Antoine Fuqua as "natural" and "spiritually connected." Playing Branca, Miles Teller said he was excited to be a part of a movie honoring one of the greatest artists of all time. On April 24, 2026, Michael will be released in theaters across the globe, promising a heartfelt, musically rich homage to the King of Pop.
