Many people use curry leaves daily in cooking for flavor and aroma but tend to remove them while eating. However, renowned yoga expert Dr. Hansa Yogendra explains that curry leaves are not just a seasoning, but a powerful natural health tonic. She highlights that consuming curry leaves regularly for just 14 days can bring noticeable and positive changes to overall health.
According to Ayurveda, curry leaves play a vital role in improving digestion. They are rich in vitamins A, B, C and E, along with essential minerals such as iron and calcium. Their high antioxidant and fiber content helps in managing diabetes and supporting heart health. By activating digestive enzymes, curry leaves help reduce problems like gas, indigestion, bloating and constipation. They also neutralize free radicals, slow down cellular damage, and help delay the aging process.
Curry leaves contain beta-carotene and proteins that strengthen hair roots, reduce hair fall and enhance natural skin glow. They also improve insulin activity, helping to maintain balanced blood sugar levels. As per Dr. Hansa Yogendra’s recommendations, chewing 4–5 fresh curry leaves on an empty stomach in the morning followed by warm water, or including them in buttermilk, chutney or powdered form in daily meals, can help achieve maximum health benefits.
