Doctors say that proper physical and mental health requires not just food and exercise, but also 7–9 hours of sleep every day. However, many people today are suffering from lack of sleep, according to medical experts.
Doctors warn that sleeping less than 7 hours in a day can cause several problems such as:
Impaired brain function: Lack of concentration, poor decision-making ability and weak memory.
Poor skin health: Wrinkles and dark circles under the eyes are more likely to appear.
Hormonal imbalance: Increased stress hormones, anxiety, irritability, blood pressure issues, imbalanced appetite and a higher risk of Type-2 diabetes.
Weak immune system: Doctors say that frequent illnesses are common among people who don’t sleep enough.
Chronic diseases: There is a higher chance of heart diseases, stroke, obesity, diabetes, depression and stress, the doctors added.
Therefore, doctors strongly advise that at least 7–8 hours of quality sleep every day is essential to stay healthy and happy.
