S.S. Rajamouli’s upcoming film Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu alongside Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is generating considerable interest amid speculation about its release schedule. Earlier reports suggested that the film could arrive in theatres on April 7, 2027. However, there is now talk that completing the ambitious project by the reported date could prove challenging. This has fuelled speculation that Prabhas’ upcoming film Fauzi might take that release slot if Varanasi is postponed. Neither production team has officially confirmed a delay or any change in release plans, so the possibility remains unverified.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that the Varanasi team is considering promotional campaigns in international markets, including Brazil, France, Mexico and the United States. Some observers have questioned whether the film has generated the same level of overseas buzz as RRR so far, while others stress the importance of building interest among both international and domestic audiences. The film is also reportedly associated with a break-even target of around ₹2,000 crore, although this figure has not been officially confirmed. Its eventual release date, marketing strategy and commercial targets remain key talking points. Whether any delay would create an opportunity for Fauzi will become clearer only after official announcements.
