

The title announcement event of Vaaranasi has become a major talking point in Tollywood. With the Mahesh–Rajamouli combination, grandeur is expected, but what surprised many is that the entire event planning was handled personally by Karthikeya, without involving any event management companies. The massive event at Ramoji Film City showcased a gigantic 13,000 sq.ft LED screen, which alone reportedly cost around ₹30 lakhs. The huge supporting scaffolding needed for the setup was provided by producer KL Narayana, saving a chunk of the budget.
From venue arrangements, seating, luxury accommodation for celebrities, international travel and stay for Hollywood media-adding everything together, the total event budget is said to be between ₹10 crore and ₹15 crore. However, the sponsorships covered only around ₹5 crore-₹2.5 crore from the main sponsor Twilight Real Estate and another ₹2.5 crore from ads. The remaining expense was completely borne by the producer as part of the film’s production cost.
Despite the scale, the event remained simple and smooth--just speeches, the glimpse reveal, and a dance performance by Shruti Haasan. The standout highlight was the hassle-free entry and exit for the audience with zero crowd chaos.
After witnessing such a high-budget title event, the big question remains--how massive will the actual film Vaaranasi be?
