The Hero’s Wife Didn’t Like Me, So I Was Dropped: Taapsee

Actress Taapsee Pannu has opened up about some unpleasant experiences she faced during the early stages of her career. She revealed that she was dropped from several films without being given clear reasons. In a recent interview, Taapsee recalled an instance when she was removed from a film at the last minute. When she asked why, she was reportedly told, “The hero’s wife didn’t like you.” Taapsee said the response left her shocked and described it as one of the worst reasons she had ever been given for being dropped from a project. She also recalled being removed from another film by the male lead and said that news of her replacement in a Bollywood film reached the media before it reached her. The production team later apologised to her over the phone but did not explain the reason.

Taapsee also spoke about her lack of awareness regarding bold scenes during the early years of her career. She said that, as a newcomer, she initially assumed such scenes were a normal part of filmmaking and that everyone followed the same practice. However, she realised only after watching the films on screen that she had sometimes been presented in a way she felt was unnecessary. According to Taapsee, she later understood that an actress could also look glamorous without relying on bold scenes. On the work front, her film ‘Gandhari’ is currently streaming on Netflix.
