The upcoming film Varanasi, directed by S. S. Rajamouli and starring Mahesh Babu, is one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema. After the massive success of films like Baahubali and RRR, expectations for this epic adventure are extremely high, not just in India but worldwide. The movie has already created huge buzz, with updates, concept visuals and set designs going viral on social media.
The film is being made on a massive budget and features a grand recreation of Varanasi in Hyderabad. The narrow streets, ghats and temples of Kashi have been recreated in a highly realistic way with the help of international VFX teams and Hollywood technicians. The story is said to blend mythology, science fiction and time travel, covering a timeline from ancient times to the year 2027, showcasing how the city evolves across eras.
Mahesh Babu is rumored to be playing a powerful role inspired by Rudra or Lord Rama, with visuals like riding a bull and holding a trident already exciting fans. Priyanka Chopra is reportedly playing the role of Mandakini, while Prithviraj Sukumaran appears as the villain. Music is composed by M. M. Keeravani. There is also strong buzz that Hrithik Roshan might appear as Lord Shiva, which has further increased excitement, though there is no official confirmation yet. The film is expected to release in 2027 during a festive occasion.
