A new report about director Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film with Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi has caught the attention of film fans. Titled Inji Vellam, the romantic drama is currently progressing with its shoot. According to reports circulating in Kollywood, Vijay Sethupathi is said to be accepting a remuneration of ₹6 crore for the project, considerably lower than the approximately ₹15 crore he is reportedly paid for some of his other films. However, neither the actor nor the filmmakers have officially confirmed these figures.
This would mark Vijay Sethupathi’s third collaboration with Mani Ratnam after Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, released in 2018 and also known as Nawab in Telugu. Their previous association has added to the anticipation surrounding the new project. A. R. Rahman is composing the music, and the first-look visuals featuring a couple standing in the rain have already sparked interest among fans. The makers have yet to reveal detailed information about the storyline and characters. The film is reportedly being planned for a January 2027 release, with further updates expected from the team.
