‘Ramayana’, one of the most ambitious mythological films being made in Indian cinema, is currently creating massive buzz in Bollywood over its theatrical rights pricing. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the big-budget epic has already generated huge anticipation nationwide after the recently released glimpse received an overwhelming response from audiences. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash in the role of Ravana, while Sunny Deol is reportedly playing Hanuman.
According to industry reports, producer Namit Malhotra is demanding nearly ₹450 crore for the Hindi theatrical rights of the film, leaving several top distributors shocked. Despite interest from leading names like Anil Thadani, Jayantilal Gada and Karan Johar, discussions reportedly slowed down due to the massive asking price. Trade circles believe the makers are confident about the film’s box office potential and are unwilling to reduce the valuation after the strong response to the teaser glimpse. Planned as a two-part epic, ‘Ramayana’ is expected to release during the Diwali season and is already being projected as a potential record-breaking blockbuster.
