Raka Aiming for an Oscar?

Director Atlee has established a strong identity in Kollywood with a series of successful films, particularly through his distinctive presentation of large-scale commercial elements. However, his reported recent comments have sparked a fresh discussion in film circles. Atlee is said to have revealed that he is directly aiming for an Oscar with his upcoming film ‘Raka’. While some fans are excited by the ambitious goal, others feel that setting such a high target may be premature.

Atlee’s films have generally been associated with commercial elements, while comparisons to director Shankar’s style have also surfaced in discussions over the years. Against this backdrop, there is growing curiosity about what Atlee plans to present through ‘Raka’. Whether the film genuinely has Oscar-level content or the statement reflects the director’s confidence will become clear only after its release. If the content matches the scale of the claim, the director’s words could gain greater significance.
