Bollywood actor Sunny Deol’s upcoming film ‘Suryaa: Ant Se Arambh Tak’ has reportedly come under criticism from sections of the medical community following the release of its trailer. Critics have raised objections to the way doctors and healthcare professionals are allegedly portrayed in the film. According to the concerns being expressed, the trailer depicts doctors as individuals who deliberately recommend unnecessary medical tests and charge excessive fees to earn commissions. Scenes showing the lead character assaulting doctors, nurses and hospital staff have also triggered concern. Critics argue that such portrayals could negatively influence public perceptions of healthcare professionals, particularly among viewers who may find it difficult to distinguish between fictional storytelling and real-life medical practice.
Questions have also been raised about the National Medical Commission’s (NMC) response to the controversy. Those opposing the film’s alleged portrayal of doctors are questioning why action is not being considered when a major production is accused of presenting the medical community in a broadly negative light. Some have reportedly called for legal action against the filmmakers and demanded that the film be banned. They argue that such depictions could further weaken the already sensitive doctor-patient relationship and increase public distrust of medical professionals. However, the allegations reflect the concerns raised by critics, and any regulatory or legal action would depend on the relevant authorities’ assessment of the content and applicable laws.
