Jailer 2 Faces a Slow Start in Telugu States

Superstar Rajinikanth’s much awaited sequel, Jailer 2, is set to hit theatres this Thursday. The film was initially expected to register a record breaking opening for a Kollywood production. However, the latest advance booking trends, particularly in the Telugu market, suggest that it may fall short of expectations.

The Telugu-dubbed version has reportedly collected only ₹3 crore through advance bookings so far, disappointing figures considering the massive success of the first instalment at the Tollywood box office. Domestic and overseas bookings have also remained below expectations. The promotional content and music have failed to generate strong buzz among Telugu audiences, leaving the film largely dependent on its initial reviews and word of mouth. Director Nelson’s execution will be crucial in determining the film’s reception.
