Yellamma, directed by Venu Yeldandi and produced by Dil Raju, marks the debut of Devi Sri Prasad as a hero and is expected to go on floors soon. However, the project has not yet entered full fledged shooting as a few key casting decisions are still pending. The makers are reportedly keen on finalising a strong antagonist before locking the schedule for regular filming.
Sources suggest that the team is attempting to rope in a vintage hero, with Vadde Naveen’s name doing the rounds for the crucial villain role. Naveen, who once enjoyed significant success with films like Pelli, Priyudu, and Sneham, later moved away from acting into business. Though he recently announced plans for a comeback as a lead actor, it remains uncertain whether he would accept a negative role, especially given his soft on-screen image. With no confirmation yet on the antagonist or female lead, Yellamma a devotional cum fictional drama set against a Telangana folk art backdrop is targeting a Dasara or Diwali release. However, high production and VFX demands may affect the timeline. For Venu Yeldandi, this film presents a crucial opportunity to step into the big league after the success of Balagam.
