Tollywood director Vamshi Paidipally is known for taking long breaks between his films, as he prefers working with top-tier stars. He has only directed six films in the past eighteen years since his debut in 2007 with Prabhas's Munna, five of which were produced by Dil Raju. Vamshi began work on a social drama following his most recent appearance in Varisu (Varasudu), starring Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay. He first went up to Aamir Khan, who reportedly accepted an advance payment from Dil Raju and expressed approval of the script. For unknown reasons, Aamir later chose not to participate.
Salman Khan was allegedly considered for the lead after that, but that plan also failed to materialize.

According to new rumors, Pawan Kalyan may now take up the project. It appears that Dil Raju is producing two scripts for Pawan Kalyan. According to reports, Vamshi modified the same plot he presented to Aamir to fit Pawan's celebrity and political image.Given that Pawan's dates have already been set by Dil Raju, Vamshi may finally be directing this significant project. The two had previously worked together on Vakeel Saab. Although an official confirmation is still pending, Pawan is anticipated to take on Vamshi Paidipally's film after finishing Harish Shankar's Ustaad Bhagat Singh.
