After facing more than half a dozen consecutive flops, actor Ravi Teja came before audiences this Sankranti with the film Bharta Mahashayulaku Vignapti. Although the movie felt okay in terms of content, it did not achieve the expected level of success because people did not come to theatres in large numbers. Leaving the result of this film aside, Ravi Teja has now announced his new movie. With the title “Irumudi” being finalized and the first look released, interest in the film has increased. However, rumours are now circulating that this movie is a remake.
Despite changing trends, Ravi Teja has mostly continued to do commercial films. Even when he made experimental movies like Eagle and Tiger Nageswara Rao, the presence of regular commercial elements led to their failure. Now, he has chosen Irumudi by thinking a little differently. In this film, Ravi Teja will be seen as an Ayyappa devotee wearing the mala. Because of this, many people are saying that the film is a remake of the 2022 Malayalam movie Malikappuram. In that movie as well, the hero wears the Ayyappa mala and there are two children, which has led to similarities between the two films.

A few days ago, rumours were heard that Shiva Nirvana would make a horror thriller with Ravi Teja. However, looking at the title and first look of Irumudi, it appears to be a film with a daughter and God sentiment backdrop. Due to this, people are saying that it is a remake of Malikappuram. This Malayalam film has been dubbed into Telugu and is also available on OTT platforms. Whether Irumudi is actually a remake or not may become clear after a few days. Coming to Malikappuram, the story is about an eight-year-old girl named Kalyani, who is a devotee of Lord Ayyappa. Her dream is to visit Sabarimala along with her father. Due to unexpected circumstances, she loses her father and then sets out for Sabarimala with a friend. The rest of the story shows the dangers she faces during the journey, kidnapping attempts and how she finally reaches Sabarimala with the help of a man named Ayyappan.
