At the age of 65, Nandamuri Balakrishna continues to impress with back-to-back hits. Films like Akhanda, Bhagavanth Kesari, Daaku Maharaj and Veerasimha Reddy strengthened his success streak. However, the recent release Akhanda 2 failed to meet expectations at the box office, increasing curiosity around his next project. As a result, discussions about his upcoming 111th film have gained momentum.
Balakrishna is set to reunite with director Gopichand Malineni for NBK111, which will be produced by Venkata Satish Killaru under the Vridhi Cinemas banner. Initially planned as a high-budget historical action entertainer with Nayanthara as the female lead, the film was expected to release in April 2026. However, reports suggest that the makers are reconsidering the script and scale, opting for a story that better suits Balakrishna’s image rather than a full historical backdrop.
According to social media buzz, budget concerns are the main reason behind these changes. The makers reportedly planned a budget of ₹170–200 crore, but losses from Akhanda 2, weak pan-India response and limited OTT returns forced them to rethink. At the same time, rumors suggest that Nayanthara may exit the project due to cost-cutting. She is said to have asked for a ₹8 crore fee and the team believes replacing her could save ₹6–7 crore. Whether this news is true or just speculation will become clear in the coming days.
