Is Jailer 2 Targeting Jailer’s Box Office Collections?

Expectations are high for ‘Jailer 2’, starring Superstar Rajinikanth and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Following the success of the first instalment, the sequel is reportedly being planned for a major release in the Telugu states as well. Sithara Entertainments is said to have acquired the film’s Telugu states distribution rights. This has sparked discussion in trade circles about the box-office target set for ‘Jailer 2’ in the Telugu market.

‘Jailer’ reportedly grossed around ₹100 crore in the Telugu states, with its share estimated at around ₹45–50 crore, according to trade discussions at the time. The Telugu rights for the first film were reportedly valued at around ₹12–15 crore. In comparison, there is industry talk that Sithara Entertainments has invested more than ₹45 crore for the Telugu rights of ‘Jailer 2’. As a result, the first film’s box-office performance is being discussed as a possible benchmark for the sequel. These business figures are yet to receive official confirmation.
