There is reportedly intense competition for the theatrical rights of Mahesh Babu and SS Rajamouli’s ‘Varanasi’, with the proposals for the Telugu states drawing considerable attention in the film industry. The value of these rights is said to have already crossed ₹275 crore. The reported offers have also surpassed the ₹225 crore figure previously associated with RRR. Dil Raju, Asian Cinemas, Mythri Movie Makers and Sithara Entertainments are reportedly among the companies competing for the rights. Trade circles are currently discussing offers reaching around ₹300 crore.
Globally, the theatrical business of ‘Varanasi’ is reportedly estimated to be around ₹775 crore. There is also discussion that the film could surpass the ₹625 crore level reportedly associated with the theatrical rights of ‘Pushpa 2’. The combination of Mahesh Babu and SS Rajamouli has generated significant interest across the country, with the competition for theatrical rights reportedly reflecting those expectations. However, these figures are currently part of trade speculation, and the final amounts will become clear only after official agreements are completed.
