Director Harish Shankar, once known for delivering big commercial hits, is now facing a tough phase in his career. Though he has made successful films like Gabbar Singh and Duvvada Jagannadham, his recent projects have not connected well with the younger audience. After the film “Mr. Bachchan”, many felt that his style had not evolved with time, leading to criticism and trolling, especially from Gen Z viewers.
His attempt to remake popular films like the Hindi movie “Raid” and the Tamil film “Theri” did not work as expected. The remake “Ustaad Bhagat Singh”, starring Pawan Kalyan, turned out to be a major disappointment. Even after audiences started preferring fresh and modern content, Harish Shankar continued with old-style commercial elements, which affected his recent films.
Now, the director is planning a strong comeback. He has received advances from production houses like KVN Productions and Sithara Entertainments. Initially, there were plans to work with Nandamuri Balakrishna, but things did not move forward. Currently, Harish Shankar is in talks with Nithiin and has reportedly narrated a story that impressed the actor. The project is likely to go ahead and fans are waiting to see if this film will bring the much-needed comeback for the director.
