For the past two decades, Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) has ruled the Telugu film music industry. Despite facing tough competition from several composers, including Thaman, he continues to remain one of Tollywood’s top music directors. Devi has composed music for almost every leading star in the industry. And now, for the first time in his career, he is reportedly set to make his debut as a hero!
Comedian Venu, who created a sensation with Balagam, will be directing a new film titled Yellamma, and Devi Sri Prasad is said to be playing the lead role. The story reportedly made rounds among many actors before finally reaching Devi. However, no official announcement has been made yet. Meanwhile, Devi’s marriage topic has been a hot subject of discussion for quite some time, though it hasn’t materialized yet. Recently, he appeared as a guest on Jagapathi Babu’s talk show, where he was asked an interesting question “Between marriage and becoming a hero, what would you choose?”
Devi gave a clear and witty reply: “Even if you keep any other option next to marriage, I’ll still choose that one instead of marriage!” He emphasized that his current focus is only on becoming a hero. Devi also revealed that he’s been listening to scripts for quite some time, but didn’t confirm whether Yellamma would be his debut film. Talking about a memorable moment in his life, DSP shared that meeting Ilaiyaraaja was a dream come true. “I always wished to meet him at least once in my life, and when he visited my studio last year, it was one of the greatest moments of my life,” Devi said emotionally.
He also added, “No one can do justice to my songs like Chiranjeevi garu. Since I started composing music, I always dreamed of seeing him dance to one of my songs. That dream came true with Shankar Dada MBBS. Even today, when I watch him dance to my tunes, I just stand there in awe.” Devi revealed that among his songs, ‘Nuvvu Nuvvu’ from Khadgam is very special to him, and that he worked extremely hard for ‘Aa Ante Amalapuram’ from Arya.
