If a hero shows even a little promise, many producers line up to work with him. When producers show interest, remuneration usually increases. Actor Kiran Abbavaram, who has been trying to settle as a strong lead hero, acted in the film “K Ramp”. The movie became a big success. After that, he received several offers and currently has three to four films in hand.
At present, there are very few mid-range heroes who can guarantee minimum collections. Some mid-range heroes are reportedly demanding up to ten crores as remuneration. Those slightly below them are asking for around seven crores. Now, reports suggest that Kiran Abbavaram is also asking for five crores as his remuneration.
Earlier, if a producer paid three crores to the hero and spent nine to ten crores on production, the total budget would be around twelve crores. If the theatrical market could recover six to seven crores, the remaining amount could be managed through OTT rights. However, with the increased remuneration, the budget is now touching fifteen crores. If the story and casting are slightly different or bigger, the cost may increase further. Because of this, producers are worried whether the film will recover its investment and they feel that even a once affordable hero is no longer within easy reach.
