Movie production costs have increased sharply in recent times. Actor fees, production expenses and the pan-India trend have made it difficult to control budgets. While there are calls for stars to reduce their pay to support producers, some actors are instead demanding more facilities, adding to the financial burden. From luxury hotels to full staff expenses, such demands have become common even before shooting begins.
The caravan culture has also grown rapidly in the film industry. Earlier, actors spent time together on sets during breaks. Now, during outdoor shoots, producers arrange well-equipped vanity vans for stars. Actors often wait and rest inside these vans, which has reduced interaction among the cast and crew.
In this backdrop, Bollywood star Ranveer Singh has become the center of discussion. His spy action film Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, turned into a massive success. However, reports say that three vanity vans were arranged for Ranveer during the shoot. End credits reportedly list three vans - one for him, one for his staff and another for special needs. This has triggered trolling on social media, with netizens saying that while Ranveer earned praise for his performance, his demands increased the producer’s expenses. The issue has now become a hot topic in Bollywood and a response from Ranveer or his team is awaited.
